Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsing programs available right now. Why use anything other than Internet Explorer? Because even though IE is already installed on your computer when you get it, Chrome works a little better.
Chrome is quick to open and processes web pages quickly. The interface is simple and not as cluttered as IE. For computers with smaller screens — like the small netbooks — all the bars and buttons at the top of Internet Explorer can leave very little viewing space. Google Chrome has the address bar, your bookmarks and a few buttons at the top — and that’s it! You might actually be able to find the home button.
Chrome also has built in basic virus protection that helps protect against malware and phishing — and it keeps itself updated. If you come across a dangerous website, Chrome will give you a warning. You can choose to go to the website anyway but you can’t say Chrome didn’t warn you.
Of course, you can customize Chrome to fit your own personal style. It has dozens of themes to pick from, including those made by other users. You can also grab extensions to install that will let you keep an eye on your Ebay bids or tweet on Twitter while you browse.
Aside from extensions, you can get applications for Chrome that let you manage all of your social networking websites with just a click of a button. One of the most useful applications is Microsoft Office online. It lets you create Excel files, Word files, Power Point files and more through Chrome. And there are lots of free games too.
With all these features, it’s easy to see why Google Chrome has become a competitor for Internet Explorer. It matches and surpasses a lot of Internet Explorer’s features and isn’t so cramped. To make it more compatible, Chrome is available for Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.
